[three things] bodily gifts

What are three things about your body that are gifts from God?

(For instance, but not limited to: things you do with your body to serve God and neighbor, things you love to do with your body, things you love about your body, things about your body that show forth God's grace and love for other people.)

  1. In which I am not being prideful, just honest. I can be equally honest about my failings, trust me. I encourage you to do the same -- choosing honesty over humility, that is, not rehearsing all your faults.

    So, honest inventory of gifts:

    1. God gifted me with hands and fingers that I can use to give my girlfriend shoulder rubs and backrubs and footrubs.

    2. God gifted me with throat and tongue and mouth and public speaking talents that I can use to share God's Word.

    3. God gifted me with a beautiful smile for sharing the Good News that God's Kingdom is a place of joy.

  2. Ruth Ellen, I really like your phrasing of each item on your list as "God gifted me with..." -- I had made my list and then I realized it was all "I have..." and I went back and changed it because I really liked your framing.

    1. God gifted me with hands and fingers with which I can rub and massage people I love, and pet their hair -- and arms with which I can hold people I love. God has gifted me with legs which will stand as I hug someone or pet zir hair, and bones and muscles which won't complain too quickly if I end up in an awkward position while physically demonstrating that nonsexual love.

    2. God gifted me with strong and healthy muscles and bones (and lungs and etc.) so that I can walk for long periods of time without fatiguing (something I really appreciate since I was raised as a pedestrian and continue to purposely structure my life such that I don't need a car) and can even jog or run if I'm in a hurry.

    3. God gifted me with skin that tans -- I can be outside without having to worry about possible aftereffects. (I am also grateful for the Spirit-inspired human-made creations of sunscreen and moisturizer, since I am not immune to the power of UV rays :) )

    4. God has gifted me with curves and a female body I feel at home in. (I debated whether celebrating this would be potentially marginalizing any trans readers, but I am reminding myself that loving things about my own body doesn't mean that someone who does not share that experience is not also a Bright, Brilliant, Beloved, Child of God who is Beautiful to Behold.)

  3. OK
I have been gifted with arms willing to hold a person when they are in need.
I have been gifted with the ability to hear under or around what people are saying in order to hear what they mean.
I have been gifted with a deep well of empathy which allows me to forgive easily because I can put myself in another persons place.
